Shrinkflation Tracker
Same price, less product. This tracker lists Australian supermarket products that have shrunk, with the old and new size, the price before and after, and when it changed, so you can see exactly how much less you’re getting. Every product links to the report it came from. Spotted one yourself? Tell us about it.

How to beat shrinkflation
- Check the unit price. The price per 100g, 100ml or per sheet on the shelf ticket shows the real cost, whatever the pack size.
- Compare brands and sizes. A home brand or a different pack size often works out cheaper per 100g.
- Watch for “new look” packs. A redesign is a common time for a product to quietly get smaller.
- Use promo codes. Save on your shop with promo codes from 900+ stores, checked daily.
Frequently asked questions
What is shrinkflation?
Shrinkflation is when a product gets smaller but the price stays the same or goes up. You pay the same or more but get less, so the real price has risen even though the shelf price may look unchanged.
How can I spot shrinkflation?
Check the unit price on the shelf ticket, such as the price per 100g, 100ml or per sheet. If the unit price has gone up while the pack looks the same, you're getting less for your money. Comparing unit prices is also the easiest way to find the best value between brands and pack sizes.
Where does this list come from?
Every product on the list comes from a published report, mostly investigations by the consumer group CHOICE, with a link to the source. Reader reports are checked before they're added. Sizes and prices can vary between stores and may have changed since the report.
Do supermarkets have to tell you when a product shrinks?
Supermarkets must show unit prices under the Unit Pricing Code, but there is no general rule that they label a product as smaller. In March 2025 the ACCC recommended that supermarkets tell shoppers when a product's size shrinks, and in September 2025 the federal government began consulting on tougher unit pricing rules to tackle shrinkflation.
How do I report shrinkflation?
Use the form on this page. Tell us the product, brand, old and new size and, if you know them, the old and new price. We check every report before adding it, and we never publish your name or email.
This list is based on published reports, mainly from CHOICE, and on checked reports from readers. Sizes and prices are as reported at the time and can vary between stores. Products may have changed since. If you think something is wrong, please let us know through the form above.
