We all love getting together with family and friends, especially during the festive season. But parties cost money and it’s too easy to OVERSPEND.
Don’t let the costs of entertaining weigh on your party plans.
Here are some tips to save money without being cheap:
Throwing a brunch or lunch party is a lot less hassle and can be just as much fun as a huge dinner party.
Less food and alcohol is consumed during day time events, which also open up the possibility for different party themes.
How about an afternoon chilli cookoff?
Friends and family come for the guestlist, not the menu. You don’t necessarily have to splurge on lobster and primo cuts of meat. Don’t be cheap either. Have a couple of feature dishes but also plenty of cheaper ingredients to act as fillers.
Potato salad (or any salad), burgers, sausages, ribs, and wings are all relatively cheap and are arguably tastier than prawns and rib-eye!
Buying in bulk:
It like the PERFECT time to pick up those bulk items from Costco, however bulk buying IS NOT ALWAYS the cheapest option.
One: even though it’s bulk buying, Costco is not always cheaper than supermarkets. It pays to know what the supermarkets are charging before you invest in 10 litres of mayonnaise.
Two: even if the items are cheaper, not using all of the items and not storing items properly could mean you end up spending MORE!
